Quit harmful habits

Smoking, drinking alcohol, and, most especially, taking street drugs are definitely forbidden. If you have these habits, quit. If you’re thinking of taking a just sip of beer or vodka, remember that there’s no “safe” quantity of alcohol for you as long as you are pregnant. The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends cessation of alcohol consumption during pregnancy as it increases the risk of abnormal fetal development.

Consult your doctor about the prescriptions you’re taking

Some medications can do more harm than good during pregnancy. Most pregnancy doctors in Salt Lake City suggest talking with your healthcare provider about any over-the-counter prescription meds you are taking. The same is true for herbal medicines. There are some herbal preparations and supplements that are not yet proven to be safe to take during pregnancy.

Reduce working hours

Most women are able to continue working while pregnant. If you’re worried that working might put your pregnancy at risk, you may have to reduce your working hours or assigned tasks. You should also expect to feel tired easily as your body is working overtime to sustain your pregnancy. It would help to eat an iron- and protein-rich diet that includes red meat, poultry, seafood, and leafy green vegetables. You should also drink plenty of fluids.
